Curriculum
At Marsh Lane, our curriculum is specifically crafted for students aged 16–25 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We provide a high-quality, nurturing framework that aligns with the Oaktree Education Services (OES) vision: delivering an inclusive and challenging provision that fosters academic progress, life skills, and emotional resilience based on each student's unique starting point.
Core Academic & Life Skills
Our foundation is built on the essential qualifications needed to navigate modern life with confidence. Every lesson is designed to align with Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) outcomes, ensuring students are ready for their next steps:
Functional Skills English & Mathematics: Tailored pathways focused on the practical literacy and numeracy skills required for independent living and employment.
PSHE: A dedicated programme for Personal, Social, Health, and Economic education, helping students build the resilience needed to thrive in the community.
Employability: A practical qualification focusing on the professional attributes and "soft skills" essential for a successful transition into the workforce.
Vocational Excellence & Bespoke Pathways
We believe in learning by doing. Our vocational offer combines classroom theory with hands-on experience, utilising both our on-site facilities and key community hubs:
Catering & Sport: Structured pathways that provide students with tangible skills in hospitality and physical education.
Community Integration: We extend the classroom into the local area, utilising Intercity Gym for boxing and The Quays for fitness, ensuring students feel confident in public professional environments.
Bespoke Enrichment: For students with specific career goals, we offer specialised training including:
- Technical Skills: Bike Maintenance and CSCS Training for construction.
- Creative & Physical: Music production and Boxing.
- Career Preparation: Army preparation and intensive interview practice.
Our Commitment
Our mission is to provide a safe, motivating environment where students feel secure enough to take risks in their learning. By blending academic rigour with bespoke vocational avenues, Marsh Lane empowers every student with the credentials and character they need to unlock opportunities in further education, apprenticeships, or independent living.
